This will top off an excellent musical week for me. Today, I played with Rich Harney and Alex Coke, and sang with Kinley Lange and an 80-person choir.

Chanticleer has a straightforward mission statement too.
PS Nice links for the others.
Do you ever get irritated (slightly) at the “translocating” around the stage between pieces? Is it mildly affected? Does it really improve the musicality? I’m not complaining, they do some great stuff–the older the better, in my view.

I don’t know—I’ll let you know after Thursday night!
I saw Chanticleer on Thursday evening and again this afternoon in San Antonio. Brilliant! The consensus among people I talked to in Austin was that Mahler’s Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen and the final medley of spirituals were the high points, though my personal favorites were des Pres’s Je ne me puis tenir d’aimer and I’m Just a Poor Wayfaring Stranger. The latter haunted me all day Friday, and brought the crowd in San Antonio to its feet.
I didn’t find the “translocating” awkward; it was done very smoothly, and was effective in bringing soloists to center stage.
